I like the look of the Orient Mako better and the band looks more comfortable. My husband doesn't dive, so the depth and stuff doesn't matter to him. He just likes watches that look good and have traditional faces rather than digital.

My father, son and myself are all SCUBA divers and know that this is a great watch. They are competitive in prices and many other features. I like the color of the Orient more as well as the functionality of the watch. The case sizes are almost the same dimesions but the Seiko weighs more. I would pick the Orient first.

Well, aesthetics are important aesthetically speaking, so the Orient Mako edges out the Seiko, but the functionality goes to the Seiko Monster...and that's extremely important. The functionality is claimed by the Orient Mako. When you consider that the price is a greater value for the Orient Mako because it is sufficiently more inexpensive, I think the Orient Mako wins by a fraction.

I need this watch too because I do rescue dives as well. I'm not quite sure that any color can be seen in our murky lakes though LOL. Especially when we drag the bottom. I have to go with the Mako being the best of the two however due to the asthetics. I love the look and its not too busy!

I like that the Orient Mako has a fold-over push button clasp to prevent it from inadvertently unhooking. This makes the chances of losing it much slimmer than than the monster

I'm all for simplicity, and the Mako looks less cluttered than the Monster.

I feel the Seiko os superior based on its bigger face and more luminescence. The hands and numbers are outlined in black which contrasts nicely with the orange face. Since both of the watches are similar in function, I would pick the Seiko for greater visibility. garrettsambo@aol.com
The Seiko Monster is only slightly superior to the Orient Mako because its brushed and polished bracelet make it more durable and able to withstand abuse. However the difference is so little that I would love to win the Mako.
I think the Seiko Monster watch is better because it comes in 3 different colors.
